Summer 2K15: The Adventure Begins

There. is. so. much. that has happened over the last few months. Highs and lows. Joys and pains.  It's nearly impossible (for a person like me) to summarize. So instead, for the sake of my blog and my deep desire to write this summer, I will skip it. Perhaps over time and posts, some of it will naturally be captured, but for now...

...our adventure has begun.

It wasn't that long ago that we didn't even know if we'd get the chance to go to Colorado as a family this summer; granted, we haven't been able to go for the entire summer, and my conference team job is smaller than it has been in the past, but very clearly, God has been in that and all of the decisions leading up to it.

As it is, we will spend a large chunk of our summer in our beloved Ft. Collins.  Currently, we are assigned a 2-bedroom apartment which will be...interesting.  Still praying that God provides a bigger one, but if not, we will survive...and even enjoy it a little bit, too.  :)

This evening, I sit on the couch at my parents', the couch that acts as bed for me when I'm here.  The couch I slept on for three what turned into seventeen nights in May. Today, I drove down with Bart, Tom, and Beth, and I'm so glad to be able to be here for a few days. Dad is signicantly better than he was when I left 2.5 weeks ago; the difference between now and just a month ago is rather astounding, actually.  I am thankful that God knows the future, and by Him we are all fully known. If I tried to figure out what is going to happen, I would go crazy--and I'd get it wrong anyway.  So I enjoy the
days, take each one as a gift, and trust Him with what will come.

Out of the mouths...

"Dear Jesus, will you heal Mama's headache?  You are the King, and you are good, and you are nice. Some kings would say 'Do this or that!' but you are nice!  You wash our feet! So thank you, Jesus...amen."

May her words always be as honest and as trusting and as straightforward as they were tonight. Thank you for your prayers for me, my sweet daughter.  Don't ever forget to always run to the good and very nice King!

perspective

Sometimes

something

bad

                                          happens.

A window.

Glass.

Shards.

                                          a bullet.

I want to run.
I want to cry.
I want to hide.
I want to protect.

But
          my
                      protection
                                            is
                                                     not
                                                                 on my terms.

It
is
on
His.

Which is why....

                                                 Nothing

                                       truly

                               bad

happened.

Some trust in horses, and some trust in chariots, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.  -Psalm 20:7

"W" for Wisconsin!

FINAL FOUR, baby......we want a WIN for Wisconsin!

Tonight, Neil and Daddy traveled up toward Indianapolis to join in the craziness that is the NCAA Final Four tourney.  They had a blast and loved cheering the Badgers on to a victory!

Our team rocks...and a very happy birthday to Kara!

There just aren't that many people who can rock these pink snake skin pants...including Bridget. But she sure did rock the effort. Two very enthusiastic thumbs-up from the birthday girl...happy birthday, Kara! We love ya'!

(I don't usually write on my blog about my teammates, the amazing women that God has put in my life here in MKE that make the everyday so interesting...but I should!  Bridget and Kara are two of those women, and I love them both so much!  Even as I sit at Starbuck's blogging, Bridget has taken Tom and Beth with her as she runs errands, and a couple of days ago, Kara delivered a book to the littles that she been working on making with them.  Our teammates--our friends--love our children, as well as us, so well, and we are so grateful.  We couldn't do life without you!)
